Cosy Club

With its quirky mismatched décor, Cosy Club is an intriguing and comfortable spot for any date. Visit on Tapas Tuesday and you’ll get three couple-friendly sharing dishes plus wine for £11.95. After dinner, you can snuggle with cocktails on the comfy sofas until closing time.

Jamie’s Italian

Jamie’s Italian specialises in home-cooked classics and fresh, rustic antipasti, plus the gorgeous restaurant décor will give your date a sense of occasion. Share some Mediterranean-inspired nibbles from one of their famous anti planks for a perfect ice breaker. Warning: you may fall more in love with the dessert than you do with your date.

Wahaca

Set up by Masterchef winner Thomasina Myers, Wahaca is Cardiff’s go-to spot for Mexican market street food. Their small plates mean you and your date can sample a wide range of flavours in one sitting, and the upstairs bar is perfect for pre- or post-dinner drinks and people-watching. A great choice for a first date.

Carluccio’s

“Minimum fuss, maximum flavour.” That’s the mantra of the Italian chefs at Carluccio’s. If you’re a couple of foodies focused on big tastes, try their prawns marinara or lamb alla griglia. The booth seating and low lighting makes for a seriously cosy atmosphere, too.

Wagamama

Tuck yourselves into one of the big benches at Wagamama and pretend you’re in Lost in Translation. From Japanese favourites like chicken katsu curry to unusual treats like toasted sesame mochi ice cream, count on it being delicious.

Zizzi

Want to keep the atmosphere of your date and casual and fun? One of our newest openings, Zizzi, is the perfect place. Irresistible Italian staples like pizza, salads and pasta mean there’s something for everyone here – and you’ll just have to treat yourself to all three courses.
